* Aadukalam directed by Vetrimaran bagged six National Awards including the best actor award for its lead protagonist Dhanush (the youngest actor in India to bag a national hounour).
* Saranya received the best actress award for her role in Thenmerku Paruvakatru, written and directed by Seenu Ramasamy, which was judged the best feature film in Tamil.
* K. Balachandar was honoured with the Dada Saheb Phalke Award.

It’s as if Vijay has this habit of celebrating Pongal in the theatres with his fans every year. His movies are a regular for Pongal celebrations. Here we take a look down the memory lane.
His Pokkiri released in 2007 provided inspiration to the Hindi version of the movie and introduced Prabhudeva to Bollywood as a director.
Prabhudeva came back in 2009 January with Villu, the movie that is likely to have sparked romance between him and Nayan.
It’s Kaavalan in 2010 January amidst too many troubles. But Vijay pulled it off with awesome ease.
Come 2012, Vijay is back in the theatres with Nanban, official remake of the Hindi superhit 3 Idiots. Will it be as good as Pokkiri? Even better, we think.

After Yuvan and G V Prakash, it’s time for Harris to join hands with Selvaraghavan. Selva recently announced that Harris will compose for his upcoming film Irandam Ulagam. “It’s true that I am going to work with Harris for Irandam Ulagam. We practically grew up together since our houses were in adjacent streets. I am sure it will be a different experience,” Selva was quoted as saying.
Irandam Ulagam has Suriya and Anushka in the lead and is being produced by PVP productions that produced the latest release Rajapattai.
